“Ripples: The Cambridge China Review” coming soon!

We aim to engage in China discourse, both past and current, with the same independent ideals in hand as those embraced by CUCF. Given the rigidity that characterises much of the present discussion about China and its place in the world, we believe a necessary corrective to this tribalism can be found by focusing in upon personal responses to China, from a variety of academic fields.

We aim to represent China as multifaceted rather than monolithic, and are currently looking for editors in the “Arts and Culture”, “History and Literature”, “Politics and Society”, “Science Technology”, and “Interviews and Book Reviews” sections. Editors will be expected to review pitches and submissions to each of the sections and write at least one article to be included in the final print edition of the Review, which we will publish near the end of the academic year. We have no set rule for submissions, which may range from academic to personal, poetry to prose, traditional to modern, and be written in either English or Chinese. Chinese language skills are not required for editors, but a strong and demonstrated interest in China is essential.

If you are interested in applying, please email jbf42@cam.ac.uk with details of personal background, past experience, and/or writings. We look forward to hearing from you!
